Sectional point repair in Denver: fixing the one bad spot
Lining a whole Denver lateral is not always warranted. If the camera turns up a single dropped joint beneath the driveway with clean pipe to either side of it, a short cured sleeve repairs that spot alone. This page covers how it is set, where it fits, and the limits an honest proposal states.

The case for repairing only what is broken
Many sewer scopes in Denver come back with a single finding: one offset joint at thirty-two feet, or one root mass at the clay-to-cast-iron transition, or one crack where a silver maple root crossed the line. The rest of the pipe is round, clean and holding grade. Lining the whole run would work, but it is more than the pipe needs, and digging thirty-two feet into the yard for one joint makes less sense still. Sectional point repair exists for this picture. A short sleeve of resin-saturated material is placed over the defect from inside the pipe and cured there, and the problem is solved at the exact footage where the camera found it.
Setting the sleeve
The sleeve, typically two to six feet long, is wrapped around an inflatable packer and saturated with resin. The packer is pushed or pulled through the lateral from a cleanout or access pit, with the camera following, until the sleeve sits centered on the defect. The packer is inflated, pressing the sleeve against the host pipe and into the joint or crack, and held while the resin cures, usually with ambient-cure or hot-water-assisted resin. The packer is then deflated and withdrawn, and the camera confirms a smooth, bonded patch with tapered ends. On most Denver laterals the whole process takes a few hours and the line is back in service the same day.
Where it fits under Front Range ground
Heaving bentonite clay under Denver tends to work on one weak joint before the others. A joint near the foundation where the backfill settled, the transition where cast iron meets clay at the wall, or a single tile under the driveway where wheel loads concentrate will open first and take root years before its neighbors. When the inspection shows that one joint and nothing else, a sleeve is the proportionate repair, especially where the defect lies under concrete, under a mature tree or in the public parkway where a pit would need a permit and restoration.
The limits an honest proposal states
A sleeve seals the pipe it covers and nothing more, and a Denver proposal should be clear about that. If the footage shows roots at six joints and the proposal offers one sleeve, the other five will be the next call. If the pipe is Orangeburg beginning to oval, a sleeve on one spot ignores a pipe that is failing everywhere. If the defect is a belly, a sleeve conforms to the low spot and water still pools there. And a severe offset with little overlap leaves a step no sleeve can bridge. In each of those cases the right answer is a full liner, bursting or a short dig, and the camera footage should make the reason plain enough that you could explain it to the next contractor who quotes the job. The reference material at the lining reference maintained at curedinplacepipe.net describes where sleeves end and liners begin.
Sleeves at point of sale
Sectional repair is common in Denver real-estate transactions, where a buyer's sewer scope finds one offset and the sale needs a fix before closing. It is fast, it is documented on video, and it comes with a written warranty the buyer can hold. The seller should still get an independent camera run with a locate so the defect is measured, not described, and both parties should receive the before and after footage with footages that match. If the scope shows more than one problem, the honest fix for the sale is a full liner, not a sleeve on the worst spot.
Permits, records and the next step
A sectional repair is permitted lateral work in most of Denver County, and the inspector may accept the video in place of an open trench. Keep the permit record, both videos and the warranty with your house file. All Sewer and Plumbing Services, LLC's sectional repair page for Denver properties explains how All Sewer and Plumbing Services, LLC approaches single-defect repairs in Denver, and the installer's verification is shown at the contractor's CIPP installer verification page. Questions we hear about sectional point repair
How long is a sectional repair, and can two be joined?+
A single sleeve runs two to six feet. Two defects close together can be covered by overlapping sleeves, and a longer run of trouble is better served by a full liner. The footage from the camera tells the installer whether the defects are isolated enough for sleeves or spread enough to line the whole lateral.
Is a sleeve as strong as a full liner?+
Over its length, yes. It is the same class of resin-cured material and is designed to carry the load at that spot on its own. The difference is coverage: the sleeve seals the one joint it sits on and leaves the rest of the pipe, with all its remaining joints, as it was.
Can a sectional repair fix an offset joint?+
It can seal and bridge an offset where the pipe still has enough overlap for the sleeve to seat on both sides. A severe offset, where one tile has dropped most of its diameter, leaves a step the sleeve cannot smooth and is a candidate for excavation or bursting instead. The video and the installer's measurement decide.
Why is this often chosen under driveways and slabs in Denver County?+
Because digging there costs the most. A sleeve goes in from a cleanout or an upstream access point with nothing opened above the defect. For a single root joint under a Denver driveway or a crack under a basement slab, it avoids the saw-cut and the concrete work entirely.
What record should I get afterward?+
The pre-repair video showing the defect with its footage, the post-repair video showing the cured sleeve and its ends, a note of the sleeve's length and position, the permit record, and a written warranty covering the repaired section. Keep it with the house documents for the next sewer scope. Estimates are free; call now.
